Description: This journal is handmade from vintage buffalo hide and is coloured with a natural 'mahogany brown' dye. The cover has a hand-tooled copy of Leonardo da Vinci's iconic 'VITRUVIAN MAN' drawing. The journal contains 100 pages/200 usable sides of plain, unlined 150gsm cartridge drawing paper. The cover measures 9x6 inches (22.5x15cm), which means it is about the same size as A5. It is an ideal size and shape for use as a travelling journal, and the tough binding will survive many journeys in the side pocket of a backpack! This is a tough and durable book that would make an excellent travelling journal, sketchbook or personal diary. The 'chapters' of paper are stitched into the leather cover with a traditional 'Italian' stitch - a style of binding that guarantees a long life. The paper is suitable for drawing, sketching or writing - it is suitable for many media, including water colour, but not for fountain pen. I love working with leather, but for ethical reasons I only use vintage leather for my books- ie leather from working animals that have come to the end of their lives.
