Manufacturers Description: The Base Sledge Microtome 1300 is a universal instrument for the cutting of biological and non-biological objects. Its special characteristics are its large size and excellent stability as well as its versatility based on a wide range of accessories. It operates on the principle of fixed knife / moving object. The large, heavy transport sledge is exactly aligned on two guide tracks on the base. Sections of large or small objects, hard or soft materials are cut at uniform quality irrespective of their embedding medium. The base sledge microtome is used in the medical and biological laboratory for the cutting of sections embedded in paraffin, celloidin, celloidin-paraffin, gelatin, and plastic (methacrylate and polyester) as well as of large frozen sections. In the industrial laboratory plastics, textiles, rubber, coal, wood, paper, leather, leatherette, and similar materials are cut on the base sledge microtome. This special model of the large base sledge microtome not only enables sections of 1 to 20 microns in thickness to be cut, but an additional micrometer adjustment mechanism can be used to obtain, under favourable circumstances, sections as thin as 0.1 micron in manual operation while the automatic specimen feed is disconnected.
