The folk-art sheep-dog has brown feet and ears and is standing in green grass. The dog is colored in off-white color with brown colored feet, ears, and a black colored nose and eyes. The figure shows brown highlights on the body of the dog, his face, and around its tail. The sculpture shows details of the dog's tail, face, ears, and the body's shape in general. The base of the piece is stamped with the initials JRD within three rectangular deep impressions. This is piece is made in the best folk-art tradition of the Pennsylvania Dutch and mimics chalkware pieces from the 19th and early 20th century. Mr. Dierwechter who died in 1996, lived and worked in Lebanon County Pennsylvania. This piece was most likely made some time in the period 1960s- 1980s. The piece weighs slightly less than 2 ounces. Maker: John R Dierwechter. Mr. Dierwechter lived in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania and died in 1996. Marks: Marked on the bottom with the impressed letters JRD within three separate rectangles.
