Description: This item is being sold for the employee holiday fund at the continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Maine where I live with my husband. All items are donated by the residents of the community and the net proceeds of all sales go to the fund that is distributed annually to the wonderful staff who help the many elderly residents here. I will give all the information I can about each item, but I am not the original owner. A resident donated a huge box and many, many tubes of rolled up vintage maps. It is going to take me some time to get through all these maps to see what is there and determine how to batch them for sale but I have to get started somewhere. I have here a Large Vintage Grid Map of Southwestern GERMANY and Western Switzerland 39.5” by 21.5” – SEE PICS SO YOU KNOW WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE. I don’t know it’s age but I would guess very early 1960’s. And I am wondering if it was part of a bigger map and someone just needed these sections. I believe one of our residents was the daughter of US military and spent her childhood on European US military bases and that’s where these maps came from (US Military maps post WWII). There seems to be 15 grids on this map – 3 across and 5 down. The front top left are: LAMANALVMVNVLUNUMULTMTNTLSMSNS Hoping these markings mean something to someone!! And again, this may just be a part of what was a bigger map of Europe. The map is in good used condition. The map was folded originally and I will make every attempt to get it folded well but it will not be as neat or flat as it was originally (don’t say I didn’t warn you!). It’s an interesting collectible map, I hope someone can add it to a collection!! I have many other interesting items up for sale (and will have more maps in the coming weeks and perhaps months), many to benefit this wonderful employee fund.
