Description: This exquisite looking Karnig Dabanian glass paperweight features what reminds me of a lake of molten lava moving and bubbling in different hues of brown, blue, orange, red, yellow. In the first photo it looks otherworldly in the garish light of a wintry day. A huge bubble expands in size as gasses build up within it. It's getting ready to pop...but before it can do so, it's caught unawares and the artist captures it in glass, suspending its beauty in time. Anyway, that's how I see it. You, perhaps see a whole other landscape within it. I've included photos both indoors in different lighting and settings and also outdoors. It's approx. 3 7/8" wide x 3 1/2" tall approx. and heavy. It's not dated, so I'm not sure of the year it was made. There are 3 tiny chips in it, 2 of which are shown in photo 10 right above center bubble and photo 11 near the center of photo. I couldn't get the other one to show. There are also a few very faint scratches and of course the pontil at the bottom. These tiny chips and faint scratches do not detract from its beauty, however, they are there. The last photo is of the signature. Sadly, the artist is deceased and can no longer create lovely works of art such as this one. If you decide to purchase, please be aware I don't accept returns. Born in Highland Park, Mr. Dabanian graduated from Detroit’sCooley High School in 1940 and served in the Army Air Forces duringWorld War II.
