Description: Large Georgian Centerpiece Bowl Sterling Silver London 1805 English sterling silver large centerpiece fruit bowl having a Gadroon rim and handles by Robert Hennell I & Samuel Hennell bearing a full set of London Hallmarks for 1805. This especially attractive and useful George III bowl bears a crest used by Robert Arkwright, Esq. of Sutton Scarsdale and Willersley, Derby. The crest is described as an eagle, rising in beak an escutcheon, pendant by ribbon, charged with a hank of cotton. The motto is :Multa tuli fecique or I have borne and done many things. This handsome bowl is 16 1/2" across the handles, 4 5/8" tall and weighs 1040.6 grams or 33.5 ozs Troy. The soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing. The excellent original condition and clear detail, with no removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering.
