Once I blasted away all of the matrix and extra glue, I could see that the crown was reattached to the root and some filler added in the gap. It’s still a large tooth with a nice crown. Measures 3.91”. Most spino teeth on the market have had some repair and/or restoration done to them in the field. The teeth that tend to be completely untouched are on the smaller side. It’s rare to find a larger one that comes out of the ground completely intact. Dino fossils in general will have repair or restoration of some sort. It’s just the way it is with something that has been in the ground for so long and the difficulty (in most cases) of recovering them. Spinosaurus teeth are plentiful enough where one would think that just by the shear number of them that the odds of perfect spino teeth would be higher. Unfortunately, they are not. With that said, I go through thousands of them each year and pick the best ones to list. They are the best bang for your buck when it comes to theropod dinosaur teeth.
