Description: Up for grabs is a beautiful Large Northern California basket attributed to a the Paiute by knowledgeable dealers I showed it to at one point. It is 15" length x 11" depth X 8" height. Nice proportions to my eye - Elliptical boat-shaped, with interlocking triangular decoration. The forms composed of the triangles may suggest stylized human forms? Dyed braken fern on a golden brown willow ground. I acquired it from an auction in 2005 - (Provenance of Jonathan Paul Cobb estate, San Francisco, CA.) I had some excellent restoration work done on it. Had rim and several tears restored as I recall. I think the condition is good with many missing stitches or groups of stitches here and there, but overall very nice presentation. Obviously, look closely at images. Thanks for looking.
