Description: On offer is this large, antique Staffordshire 'Surprise' twin handle cider mug/loving cup.Dates to c1860s, the exterior is decorated with hand painted dog and bird scenes with dot banding, brown trims. The drinker is 'surprised' by the moulded frog who would make an appearance mid swig. Large: height of 14cm, diameter of 13.7cm, spans ~22cm handle to handle. Raw unpackaged weight of 955g.In fair antique condition - glaze shows age related crazing. Please note that there is a hair line crack (approx 3cm in length) on the side where the dog has the bird in his mouth. Some knocks to the brown trop trim paint. Please consider photos.
