Description: Large Antique Hand Carved Chinese Bamboo Brush Pot w/ 4 Lion Dogs, Signed, 13" This is a beautifully carved and very large piece of bamboo featuring four lion dogs playing with a ball. There are splits in the bamboo but it is still pliable enough that it could be repaired if that is what the new owner wants to do. Thankfully the splits don't obscure the front carving or the signature on the back. But it is a significant split so if your intent is to use this as a brush pot you will need to glue it and strap it down after putting it through lengthy rehumidification. I do not know the age of this particular brush pot. It could be anywhere from 18th century to early 20th. It does not look like a tourist piece as the interior appears to have had use. Natural stained finish on surface. Interior is left rough with signs of original owners blotting paper.
