He studied metal engraving at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts, but switched to glass craft midway through. He then established his own field of glass craft with decorative boxes made from a mixture of colored glass and gold leaf that he learned in Italy. Member of the Japan Art Academy in 1989 Heisei 1 .
