Description: DescriptionIncredible analog sound, only possible with digital Inspired by the legendary KORG Mono/Poly, the new multi/poly analog modeling synthesizer combines breathtaking analog sound with extraordinary digital power and flexibility. The original Mono/Poly boasted extremely rich sounds produced by four stacked oscillators and unique experimental features such as flexible X-Mod and Sync routing and round-robin oscillator triggering. Until now, these features were only available on large modular systems, but now the Mono/Poly puts them in a compact, user-friendly instrument. The new multi/poly is the first product to feature KORG's next-generation analog modeling technology, building on the legendary signature combination of big sound and modular-derived experimental features. It's like a modular system in a compact package, creating an endless playground for synth players and sound designers. Create hardware mashups with a wide selection of East Coast, West Coast and wavetable oscillators and newly modeled filters. Freely transform your synth sounds with a variety of envelope, VCA and portamento circuit models. Virtual voice cards add analogue variability and create organic timbral variation. Layer Rotate triggers a new program every time you press a key. Plus, Kaoss Physics, Motion Sequencing 2.0, modulation and more. ■Next-generation analog modelingmulti/poly features newly designed, incredible sounding filters and oscillators, but the evolution of analog modeling goes even deeper. Oscillators, filters, envelopes, LFOs and portamento circuits are modeled after variations of analog hardware components. The result is a natural and rich timbre, each with a slightly different character. This variation can be increased or decreased to your liking for each sound.Just like an analog synth, the voice cards keep changing even when you're not listening to them. The envelopes keep moving too, so if you play a pad with a long release time, the newly played note will "catch" the envelope at its current level, rather than restarting it from zero. The oscillators and LFOs maintain their phase, and the resonance keeps ringing. The pitch of each oscillator also drifts slightly over time, modeling the slight pitch instability found in analog hardware. Envelopes are an often overlooked element that contributes to the unique sound of vintage synths, and multi/poly includes presets of envelope curves from classics such as the Mono/Poly, MS-20, and ARP Odyssey. Analog VCAs also don't respond uniformly to voltages, and have different on and off thresholds, which strongly affect the character of the amplifier envelope. So multi/poly also models the VCA response of many classics such as the Mono/Poly, MS-20, and Odyssey, and also features a linear setting. Have you ever tried to recreate the portamento of a favorite song, switching between "fixed rate" and "fixed time" but couldn't find the right setting? Classic analog synths had a different approach to portamento, so multi/poly has six different portamento models. ■Oscillatorsmulti/poly has four oscillators per program, which allows you to achieve very thick and complex tones. Each oscillator can use classic, digital, or waveshaper oscillator types. Classic models the oscillators of traditional analog synths, resulting in an incredibly faithful and thick sound. Among the 11 waveforms, there are not only single waveforms but also dual waveforms, allowing you to model synths that generate multiple waveforms at once. The panel knobs allow you to control pulse width, triangle wave slope, dual waveform blending, and more. The digital oscillator plays up to 64 steps of wavetables, like vintage hybrid synths and modern eurorack modules. Start with over 200 factory wavetables or load your own using the Editor/Librarian software. Import modwave wavetables directly or convert wavetables from popular software formats. Over 30 modifiers change how the tables are loaded, allowing you to vary the timbre from subtle to extreme. The waveshaper offers a "West Coast" approach to processing a simple waveform (sine or triangle) through a shaper table. Dynamic harmonics are created by modulating the gain on the shaper. Use the Berkeley shaper for a classic wavefolder sound, or choose from over 90 shaper types. The Multi/poly adds a unique twist: modulatable pulse width, which creates another dimension of richness and movement. In addition to oscillators 1-4, there's a separate noise generator with dedicated filtering and saturation, and a ring modulator with inputs for all of the above. It also expands on the original Mono/Poly's powerful oscillator sync and X-Mod features to create sounds that are only possible with a large modular setup. Oscillator 1 is followed by oscillators 2, 3, and 4, which can simultaneously sync, X-MOD, or both to create unique sounds. You can also split any of the functions into oscillator pairs and control them separately. ■Dual Modeling FiltersAll of the multi/poly's filters have been newly designed, including a great set of vintage filters with pleasant saturation. Let's start with five different 4-pole self-oscillating models. "M/Poly" gives you the powerful, sweet sound of the original Mono/Poly. "Mini" is the ladder filter of America's beloved mono synth, reducing the low-frequency resonance that is important for creating classic bass sounds. "Pro" is from the first programmable polyphonic synthesizer, featuring a strong resonance sweep. Finally, the "Ladder HP" and "Ladder BP" are 4-pole self-oscillating high-pass and band-pass filters respectively. The "MS-20 LP" and "MS-20 HP", 12dB/oct self-oscillating KORG 35 filters lovingly recreate the characteristic aggressive tone of the classic KORG MS-20. The "SE M/P" 2-pole filter has a gentler character, with a continuous control that sweeps between low-pass, band-reject and high-pass, as well as a separate band-pass mode.A perfect collection of linear and resonant 2- and 4-pole low-pass, high-pass, band-pass and band-reject filters that can be shaped or refined. The Multi filter lets you modulate and blend multiple modes simultaneously. These filters all support audio-rate modulation for bright, bubbly and other ear-catching effects. Use the oscillators and ring modulators as modulation sources, or blend in the noise generator for chaotic timbres. In addition to the built-in saturation of the vintage filters, the post-filter's anti-aliased drive circuit allows you to add weight and hardness to your taste, from subtle thickness to heavy distortion. Finally, these filters can be used in series or parallel, or two at a time. Each source, including the four oscillators, noise and ring modulation, has a balance control that crossfades the two filters, allowing a wide range of creative options. For example, run one group of oscillators through the M/Poly filter and the other through the MS-20 low pass. Create a classic high pass-low pass serial chain, routing one or more oscillators around the high pass. Since this is a continuous crossfade, not just a switch, you can modulate the A/B balance for unique effects. The filters can also work in stereo, with separate pans for each source. ■multi/poly configurationEach program starts with four oscillators and a noise generator, ring modulation, sync, and X-MOD. Process these with two independent filters and modulate them with four loopable DAHDSR envelopes, five LFOs, and six Mod processors. Add complex motion per voice with multi-lane Motion Sequencing 2.0, and polish with three studio-quality insert effects. But that's just one program. Layer up to four programs in a single performance. Use Layer Rotate to switch between them, round-robin style, played from the keyboard or driven by the arpeggiator. Create fluid, evolving modulations from simple gestures on the X/Y pad with Kaoss Physics. Four Mod knobs give you intuitive, hands-on control of multiple low-level parameters. Finish off with two Mod processors, a master reverb, and an EQ. ■Layer Rotatemulti/poly has four layers, each containing a program. Naturally, you can create layered sounds, velocity splits, and keyboard splits. Inspired by the paraphonic mode that cycles through the four oscillators of the original Mono/Poly, Layer Rotate adds new possibilities for flexible round robins across the entire program. ■Main specificationsKeyboard37 keys (velocity and release velocity compatible)Sound source systemAnalog modeling synthesisMaximum polyphony60 voices (maximum voice number varies depending on settings)External dimensions (W x D x H)565 x 319 x 93 mmWeight3.5 kgAccessoriesAC adapter, dedicated soft caseShippingWe attach the tracking number to all items.
