Description: "Rumpelstilzchen" Collector's Plate by Konigszelt Bavaria Bayern and Bradford Exchange This is the 1st of Twelve Issued Plates, # X9597 in the collection entitled Grimm's Fairy Tales Collection. The original artwork was painted by the artist Charles Gehm especially for the city of Hanau, German Federal Republic, the birthplace of the Brothers Grimm, in commemoration of the 200th anniversary of their birth. Rumpelstilzchen .... It is dusk … or perhaps it is dawn. In this dark and secluded corner of an ancient castle, time stands still. All that matters to the man at work is that the spinning wheel in front of him keeps spinning; that the wisps of straw in his hand continue feeding through it; and that the golden coins continue flying off the wheel in a golden rainbow to clatter on the floor. This room full of straw must be transformed into a room full of gold before the sun has risen, or else the woman asleep on the floor will be beheaded by a greedy king, and the little man will lose the prize he has bargained for - her first born son. Artist: Charles Gehm (Gehm) is in the lower left corner of the rim. Crafted of fine West German porcelain. Plate measures: 7 7/8" in diameter. Plate Issue Number: X9597 Bradex Number: 22-K46-2.1.
