It has focusing but close up focusing adapter is recommended (I usually use one on all M42 lenses). NOTE: I posted a photo with adapters you can use and focusing distance you can get. Yes, with adjustable M42 adapter you can get very close and with standard it around 5 feet or so, still good for portrait. No adapters or hoods are included. This type of ALL manual lens is not for inexperienced or beginner who's not willing to learn manual photography, it's all manual lens with no electronic contacts, manual focus and in camera it's best used in M mode.
