Puckett, a 10-time All-Star, was a career .318 hitter, collecting 2,304 hits for the Twins in his shortened career.He had 207 home runs and 1,085 for the Twins from 1984-1995. His career path would probably have taken him to more than 3,000 hits and possibly 300 homers except that during Spring Training 1986 where he was tearing the cover off the ball, he awoke one morning without vision in his right eye. Diagnosed with Glaucoma, surgeries couldn't correct the issue, and he had to retire at the young age of 36. Puckett was the 1989 American League Batting Champion and the 1994 American League RBI Leader, making the All-Star Team 10 times. He led the Twins to two World Series Championships in 1987 and 1991, being voted the American League Championship Series MVP in 1991. Puckett also won 6 Gold Gloves in Center Field and also 6 Silver Slugger Awards. His Number 34 is retired by the Twins, and he is in the Twins Hall of Fame. Puckett was inducted to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2001. Sadly, Puckett suffered a massive stroke and passed away at Age 45 on March 6, 2006.
