Description: Up for auction is a rare professional 1939 King Zephyr Special tenor saxophone with full pearls and a double socket sterling silver neck. The pads and corks are in fair condition. This tenor sax has been shop adjusted and plays on older pads, but may require new pads soon or an overhaul for optimal performance..The bell and key engraving is detailed and the pearls are in good condition with minimal wear. There are no major dents present and several minor bell, body, neck dings do not affect playability. This tenor sax has scratches throughout from normal use and some lacquer wear is visible with approximately 80% of the original lacquer intact and has the three ring strap hook. The serial number is in the 229,xxx range which dates the year of manufacture to approximately 1939 and the matching serial number neck has not been pulled down. Included is a somewhat used wood shell tenor sax case(interior has wear, exterior has wear, latches catch, handle is intact) and a brass body end cap. No mouthpiece is included and the pictures are considered as part of the description. The winning U.S. bidder is to pay $175.00 for standard ground shipping, handling and insurance.
