Description: Custom Drums made by you & Fly by Night Drums Welcome to Fly by Night Drums. The list below shows our current Keller drum inventory and your cost per inch of depth according to the diameter you want. You can figure out your own price per shell by multiplying the cost per inch of depth by your desired depth of the shell. If you need bearing edges, the price is $30 per drum and that includes both sides. If you purchase 3 or more shells, the bearing edge cutting is $25 per drum. Snare bed cutting is $20.00 per drum. The width of the bed is 2.5” and we can do just about any depth of bed you want. Our standard depth is roughly 1/8” By putting in some of your own labor, you can have that custom kit that will stand up to any big-name brand on the market. We have some tools that will help you mark and drill your own holes like a pro so don’t be afraid to do this yourself. The lugs can be perfectly spaced using our layout mat. The lug hole spacing can be perfectly drilled using our hardware drill guide. A snare bed can be made with a simple file though, we use a router. Bearing edges will require a router and router table. You are bound to know someone who has one if you do not. Doing these tasks yourself is a great way to save lots of money. Note: The “grade” of the shell will be either a “stain” grade or a “cover” grade. Stain grade is an “A” quality shell that can be stained or dyed in transparent colors. A “cover” grade shell may have changes in grain, an unsanded seam, insect markings in the outer veneer or other minor defect. These minor defects do not alter the sound or usability of the shell. These shells are perfect for covering with plastic material or opaque painting. They are not recommended for transparent finishes.
