Description: The Kawasaki KLX110 motor is basically a copy of Honda’s classic horizontal cylinder design that has been in production since 1958, and just like the millions of Hondas out there, it shares the same basic design flaw. For whatever unknown reason, all these motors have a very long, unsupported shaft for the shift lever. The shaft extends out of the engine cases and protrudes much further than on virtually any other motorcycle, just hanging out there in the breeze. That extended shaft is easily bent in a crash, but it is also liable to being distorted from a clumsy rider kicking on the shift lever. I know because I was “that guy” I’m sad to say. I bent the shaft on my CT110 by being far too aggressive while shifting. My bike was older, and the transmission wasn’t very smooth, so I got into the habit of slamming my foot into the shifter. Eventually I bent the shaft and had to rebuild the entire transmission.Ever since then, I am far more gentle when shifting any bike, but on these style motors I now always install an aftermarket support. This part is made by Canitu, and we have always had superior performance from their parts. The CNC machining of the 6061 aluminum is super clean, the anodizing is perfect, and the fit is precise. Cheap insurance for an expensive part to rebuild or replace.
