Here we are offering Forward to the People's Republic of Kampuchea, an original 1982 Cuban poster, designed to demonstrate Cuba's solidarity with the Southeast Asian nation of Kampuchea (Cambodia).This poster was printed by the Havana-based Organization of Solidarity of the People of Asia, Africa & Latin America (OSPAAAL), which was founded in 1966 to demonstrate solidarity among socialist countries and promote various independence movements and other causes, including civil rights. As was the custom with many OSPAAAL posters, the title of this 1970 graphic was printed in four languages: English, Spanish, French and Arabic. OSPAAAL closed its doors in June 2019 after a long run as a publisher of imaginative Cuban poster art. OSPAAAL posters can be found in museum and gallery collections worldwide, including the Victoria & Albert Museum's in London and the Library of Congress' in Washington D.C. The KAMPUCHEA poster was designed by Rafael Morante, one of OSPAAAL's most prominent designers in the 1960s and 1970s.
