Description: The Kaleidoscope discovery was made in the winter of 2007/2008 on a prospecting trip in Oregon that included a father and two of his sons. The deposit they discovered quickly proved to be, beyond a shadow of a doubt, one of the most significant jasper deposits discovered in the northwest because of its vast varieties of colors and patterns. The majority of Kaleidoscope Jasper is a Bog Wood formation, often containing pieces of wood debris and other organic materials. There are over a dozen varieties from different deposits found in the mines. The mine is now run by one of the sons and there are new and exciting discoveries made all the time. You should be able to get a few wild cabs from this slab, or give it a face polish to bring out the exquisite colors and patterns that make this jasper famous. This piece measures 4.5" x 2.5" x .25" and weighs 74g. Added to my collection in 2021. Photos taken wet. FREE SHIPPING
