Comments: JÃ¡nos VitÃ©z (Sir John) is a poem written in Hungarian by SÃ¡ndor PetÂ¿fi and a musical by PongrÃ¡c KacsÃ³h adapted from the poem. The poem was written in 1845, and is notable for its length, 370 quatrains divided into 27 chapters, and for its clever wordplay. It has gained immense popularity in Hungary, and is today considered a classic of Hungarian literature. In 1904 it was adapted into a hugely popular musical; in 1973, it was adapted into an animated feature film, the first of its kind in Hungary.
