Description: June 6, 1906 Tornado DamageChaseburg / Vernon County, Wisconsin These photos were part of a lot of images I acquired that are from Vernon County, Wisconsin. The hills in the background are very similar to the hills in Chaseburg. I can't be certain, though. The June 7, 1906 issue of The La Crosse Tribune said the June 6, 1906 tornado that hit the county did heavy damage in Chaseburg, Stoddard, and Coon Valley. The largest image shows two women and a little girl near a pile of timber that may have been their home or outbuilding. (A chair is in the rubble). about 1-2" in from the center of the right edge you can see what appears to be a snapped tree trunk. Off in the distance, some of the trees in the hills (towards the left) seem to have been disturbed by the tornado. This photo measures 10" x 8 1/8". The card it's mounted to is unevenly cut and is about 11" x 10 1/2". This image is in nice condition with a crease to the top-right corner. No writing on the back. There are two smaller images with similar hills in the background. The one shown at top shows a small wood structure that was destroyed by the tornado. There are cattle in the field to the left. This photo is dated June 6, 1906 on the back. The photo is 7" x 5" and is on a 7 7/8" x 6 1/8" card. The third photo shows a small house with a destroyed structure to the left of the image. Several men are standing, looking at the camera. There are also two women and some children. This photo has is also dated on the back. (I can read June 6). There's a vertical crease through the center. It measures 6 3/4" x 4 1/2" and is on a 7 7/8" x 5 1/8" card. Please see the images provided, as they're part of the description.
