A lovely marble with a fantastic fun character created by bright, neon colours, in an opaque application of stripes, with citrus neons, sky blues, and subtle sage green.The 'Joseph's Coat' type of handmade German antique marble dates from between 1880 to 1920. They have an irresistible charm and visual impact - often with varied colours in bands that run from the top to bottom in a formal vertical pattern. They usually have a clear base visible through the pontil; with a predominant outer layer of stripes. Different styles exist including a matt-looking opaque pastel wide-banded variety, to fine-line and clear-panelled versions. Some are striking for their simple colour combinations or vivid base layers, others are highly intricate. Joseph's Coats are a much loved and highly collected variety, their beautiful colours and distinctive designs making for an eye-catching spectacle that exudes lots of fun!
