Josef Originals Town & Country series Kate; drying dish; early CA figurine 1950s

Description: This girl is not only cute, she is industrious! She wears a pretty blue dress, white apron, and a little cap on the back of her head. She also wears a sweet expression while carefully drying a dish (my expression is rarely sweet when doing dishes.. :) ) She has a part of her original Josef Originals California label, and has the Josef incised signature mark on the bottom. Josef Originals began making figurines in 1946 in California, but moved production to Japan in 1959, so this is an early figurine. It measures approximately 5 1/8" high. I do note that someone else had listed a Kate figurine as part of a 'Housekeepers' series. In case it is confusing, I was able to match Kate in a reference book by Jim & Kay Whitaker, which also included photos of a Josef catalog advertisement which showed the figurines, labeled as the Town & Country series No 220 (Kate is 221-A), and described as "a group of six lovely little girls depicting the styles and activities of the mid 19th century. Air brushed in brilliant colors, decorated with china paint and gold..." If you are looking for the rest of the series, the other girls are Bonny, Tina, Amy, Bess, & Cindy.
