Description: The Joint Center for Operational Analysis (JCOA) mission statement : " As directed, JCOA collects, aggregates, analyzes, and disseminates joint lessons learned and best practices across the full spectrum of military operations in order to enhance joint capabilities." United States Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM) was a Unified Combatant Command of the United States Dept. of Defense. USJFCOM was a functional command that provided specific services to the military. The last commander was Army Gen. Ray Odierno. As directed by the President to identify opportunities to cut costs and rebalance priorities, Defense Secretary Robert Gates recommended that USJFCOM be disestablished and its essential functions reassigned to other unified combatant commands. Formal disestablishment occurred on 4 August 2011. This final Journal presents two of JCOA's case studies, Transition to Stability Operations in Iraq , and The Comprehensive Approach : An Iraq Case Study, Headed by military analyst Ms. Jeanne Burington. There are several other articles including Learning the Hard Way: Lessons from Complex Operations , which mentions Afghanistan, and a final message from the editor , Brig. General, John M. Murray. There are numerous photos of US military personnel meeting with leaders and troops in Iraq and other countries, maps and diagrams. This is a rare military publication from a disestablished command ; truly a one-of-a-kind collector's item. PROCEEDS BENEFIT OUR LOCAL LIBRARY- thank you for looking!
