Description: We are thrilled and honoured to be offering for sale a number of items from the late Stan Tracey's own personal collection on behalf of his son Clark Tracey. This includes many extremely rare albums, some purchased by Stan during his time in New York, plus test pressings and other gems collected over his lifetime as a musician and composer. This is a June 1958 1st press mono copy of Johnny Griffin Sextet released on the blue/silver Riverside label, RLP 12-264. Degritter cleaned, the vinyl has retained a good sheen with some scuffs, marks and hairlines mostly on Side 1.Playtest revealed a good clear mono sound with some background noise in parts but no jumping or sticking, still a very engaging listen. The outer sleeve is in good shape overall, some foxing/discolouration to the rear, a 10cm split to the bottom seam, otherwise still solid & doing its job after all these years. The original paper inner sleeve is still present but torn. We have decanted the record into a brand new poly lined inner sleeve to preserve it - you will receive both. The record will be sent separated out in an archival outer sleeve to prevent transit splits. A rare opportunity for a collector to own a copy of this wonderful album in good playable condition.
