These comics are old and tanned, but can be handled with ease. Some dates might be more tanned than others. Dates are often written in the margin on the reverse side in pencil. Condition notes are predominately focused on the comic on the front side (comic featured for the auction). Top and bottom margins are sometimes narrow. The comic was often on the centerfold of the newspaper. Color register is sometimes off a little bit, but the printing really looks great with these comics. These comics often had small tiny pin-prick holes, often a few in a hole, which appear to have been caused by some sort of machinery. These are normally very tiny and not very noticeable and I often had to hold the comic up to the light to find them. Otherwise many of these would have probably never been noticed. Most of the individual date condition notes relate to this issue. Sometimes this also resulted in scratches and/or indentations. The comics still look good, but we wanted to make sure to document these issues (don't see this often). Many of these holes are almost too small to see, some others are slightly larger. It is possible we went a little overboard in trying to detect these holes (might have counted natural tiny holes in the pulp). See pictures for an example. However, it was difficult to take pictures of this issue and the pictures might not have come out perfect. We also made some notes of some date specific issues (we tried to avoid making too many notes, and instead preferred to go the generalized condition notes above). This should serve as a guide to the condition of the set, it is possible that we have not caught everything: INDIVIDUAL DATE CONDITION NOTES Date CONDITION 4-7 A couple of tiny pin-prick holes in comic (about 4). It looks like some sort of printing press gripper caused this. 5-5 Color register looks off a bit in areas. 5-12 A number of tiny pin-prick holes in comic (about 11). They are a tiny bit larger than on other dates. It looks like some sort of printing press gripper caused this. Crease/wrinkle across the comic on the right side. 5-19 Color register off a little bit in a few areas. 5-26 A number of tiny pin-prick holes in comic (about 8). It looks like some sort of printing press gripper caused this. 6-9 A number of tiny pin-prick holes in comic (about 12). It looks like some sort of printing press gripper caused this. 6-23 A number of tiny pin-prick holes in comic (about 13). It looks like some sort of printing press gripper caused this. Color register a bit. 7-7 A number of tiny pin-prick holes in comic (about 12). It looks like some sort of printing press gripper caused this. 7-14 Three scratch/indentation lines in top right corner (caused by machinery). The comic does not appear torn though. 7-21 A number of tiny pin-prick holes in the comic (about 11). They are a tiny bit larger than on other dates. It looks like some sort of printing press gripper caused this. Crease/wrinkle across the comic on the right side. 7-28 A little bit of ink transfer along the right side. One tiny pin-prick hole in top left side. 8-4 Numerous tiny pin-prick holes in the comic (about 20). It looks like some sort of printing press gripper caused this. These are not too noticeable. 8-11 A couple of tiny pin-prick holes in comic (about 4). It looks like some sort of printing press gripper caused this. There is also an indentation in the top left corner that is also probably cause by the same machinery. 8-18 A number of tiny pin-prick holes in the comic (about 13). It looks like some sort of printing press gripper caused this. 8-25 A couple of scratch/indentation lines caused by machinery. At least two tiny holes. Color register looks off a bit. 9-1 A number of tiny pin-prick holes in the comic (about 12).
