Description: Additional Information from Movie Mars Product Description Personnel: Johannes Frisch (double bass). Recording information: Eggenstein, Germany (2012-2014). For their third full-length collaboration, Austrian bassist Johannes Frisch (Kammerflimmer Kollektief, Ensemble Sondarc) and German sound artist Ralf Wehowsky (RLW, P16.D4) turned to Ornette Coleman for inspiration, creating an alarming set of chaotic improvised music. This isn't to say that Which Head You're Dancing In? is a free jazz album, however; the album's glitchy, digitally deconstructed textures have more in common with early 21st century laptop music. At its most mindboggling, the album features fractured, messy breakbeats reminiscent of breakcore artists such as Dev/Null. In contrast, pieces such as "Theme for a Skyscraper" are slower, sparser, and full of long pauses. But the album is most enjoyable during its two longest cuts, "Which Cloud You Are Coming From?" and "Dub Clap Move," where splattered beats let loose against scraping, suspenseful strings. The album is an exciting collision between punk-inspired electronics and jazz-minded experimentation. ~ Paul Simpson About Movie Mars All items are Brand New.
