Description: This Johann Haviland Blue Garland seventy-nine piece set of china allows for 12 six-piece place settings for your dining table. It features a stunning floral pattern of wispy blue flowers with platinum trim which adds a touch of sophistication to any occasion. Made of high quality porcelain China, durable yet lightweight, it would be perfect for everyday use or special events. The sculpted shape and floral motif are reminiscent of traditional Victorian dinnerware. There is timeless elegance in every piece. Blue Garland was marketed as “a genuine European pattern” when it was introduced in 1974. It was most popular in the 1970’s and 1980’s and manufacture was discontinued in 1990. During that time it became known as “supermarket china”because many large grocery chains offered continuity programs to their customers. If they purchased a certain amount of groceries, they could get that week’s piece of China. Many people accumulated whole sets in this way. I purchased this set at an estate sale and don’t know if that might be where it originally came from. This beautiful set of China includes: 12 Dinner Plates 10” 12 Bread and Butter Plates 6 1/4” 12 Coupe Soup Bowls 7 5/8 12 Fruit/Dessert Bowls 5 1/8” 12 Footed Teacups 2 5/8” 12 Saucers 1 Creamer 1 Sugar Dish with Lid 1 Gravy Boat with attached plate 1 Coffee Pot 1 Round Vegetable Bowl 8 1/2” 1 Round Covered Vegetable Bowl 1 Oval Platter 14 7/8” All pieces display the Bavaria backstamp which indicates the high quality and craftsmanship that went into their production. They are not the Traditions Blue Garland that is manufactured in Thailand and is available today. There is no comparison of the production techniques used on these originals. This china is vintage and is preowned but looks good as new. Upon close inspection, I did not detect any chips, cracks or crazing. There is no discoloration, no wear of the platinum trim nor any scratches or utensil marks inside or out. Only the China is for sale.
