Description: 8.5x11 Typed letter on Jimmy Smith's letterhead, dated May 13, 1981. The letter is regarding a photograph request. Signed at the conclusion in black ballpoint ink by Jimmy Smith. In excellent condition. (1925-2005) James Smith was an American jazz musician whose albums often appeared on Billboard magazine charts. He helped popularize the Hammond B-3 organ, creating a link between jazz and 1960s soul music. This lot came from the Jim Wiggins collection we purchased in July 2022. Jim Wiggins accumulated the most unique and valuable autograph collection over a period of 70-plus years. He obtained his collection either in person or by writing to persons of fame and notoriety.
