Description: Jimmy Nardello Sweet Italian Pepper Plant | LIVE PEPPER PLANT |. LIVE PEPPER PLANT, NOT SEEDS! 3" to 7" Plant Shipped in a 4" Pot.Giuseppe Nardello brought this heirloom from Italy to the USA. This variety has been grown and cherished for generations. The specific origin of the pepper is the tiny village of Ruoti in the Potenza Province of the Basilicata region of Italy circa 1887. An interesting side-note on Basilicata is that the far-famed 'Peperoni di Senise' also hails from the Potenza Province of Basilicata. Ruoti and Senise are about a two hour drive by car from each other. When the Nardellos reached these shores, they settled and gardened in Naugatuck, Connecticut, and grew this same pepper that was named for their fourth son, Jimmy. One of the best peppers for frying, with a mild, spicy flavor. Productive plants are loaded with glossy-fire-engine red 10" to 12"-long peppers. These dry easily and have such a rich flavor that this variety has been placed in “The Ark of Taste” by the Slow Food organization.
