Description: For the Baseball Hobbyist. . . 1973-1980 All-Time Greats postcard James LeRoy "SUNNY JIM" BOTTOMLEY ~ St. Louis Cardinals & Browns; also Cincinnati Reds | Type 2* Postcard Size: 3-1/2" by 5-1/2" issued by TCMA, Ltd.For nearly a decade The Card Memorabilia Associates, Limited (TCMA) issued All-Time Greats Postcards depicting Baseball Hall of Fame members. Each proclaimed ALL-TIME Greats in a stylish banner across the top with ball and bat on either side. Distinctive black borders, player name and, of course, a photo of the player completed the front side. The backs differed - from variations of a standard postcard to postcard with statistics to blank back!The cards were originally issued in series - six of them - but in our travels it is apparent that either new photos were substituted for the same player within a series or ??? For example, we have seen two different pictures for: Christy Mathewson, John McGraw, Monte Irvin and others. In fact, Elmer Flick appears in different uniforms (A's and Indians)! So, clearly, a bit of mystery shrouds this interesting set.This is an opportunity to pick up a postcard of a Hall of Famer, favorite player, team, Type card collection or ...? at reasonable cost. Email us.*Type 1 or Type 2: This particular card has been observed as Type 1 (with a 1/4" diamond shape to the left of Bottomley's image on the front) and Type 2 (NO diamond or at least with the diamond blackened - evidence of it remaining). We believe this was a printing error in the early printing and was corrected in late press runs. A check of eBay will reveal the cards with "diamond" present are much scarcer than those without it.
