Description: jewish judaica photo mandatory palestine israel police NOTRIM 1936-39 arab riots manuscript on the back-"on the way to Carmel forest. the place where 11 men were killed." Mishmar HaCarmelOn the 18th of Av 1838 (March 15, 1938), Mishmar, a six-guard under the command of Moshe Blatt, set out in a car from the Carmel Forests to Haifa, to bring supplies to the area as usual. Each guard was armed mostly and Moshe was a "Mauser". At 2.40 the car, with other passengers and guardians, left the estate and returned to the Carmel Forest. During the trip, Moshe and another guard sat at the end of the car and looked back. At about three o'clock, in front of the entrance to the wadi, the guard was surprised by intense fire from all sides. The guards jumped out of the car and took positions at the sides of the road. Moshe ordered not to attack, both because of the small number of them and because they were surrounded, because he did not want to leave the wounded and the companies in the car. The guards continued to defend and return fire until the army unit arrived. Moses and seven of his friends fell after a heroic stand in the battle of few against many. He was brought to eternal rest in Haifa. Placed a woman in her seventh month of pregnancy and the son bore his name. 14x9 cm For condition watch photos
