Description: JET-AER G-96 Large Frame Vintage Hunting Pocketknife, Model 960: According to fitzwillies.com, "Jet-Aer Corp. of Patterson, NJ started selling knives in 1973 till about 1989 taking classic knife designs manufactured by companies like Buck and Gerber and having them produced in Seki, Japan and advertising them for sale in Sporting Magazines." Researching the brand, they seem to have a good reputation for structure, quality materials and good craftsmanship, as most things produced in Japan did in that period. This knife was not used as a showpiece; it has been used and sharpened rather poorly with a file. Still, the blade wasn't diminished much by the owner so I fine-sanded the blade to a satin-finish to polish the blade. It has been cleaned in the cavity and outside. Brass bolsters are mildly discolored, brass frame is solid and square. Wood handles have a small, fine grain and the back handle has a couple small chips. Both handles have been washed and polished. Spring is intact and provides walk and talk and good lock-up. A pretty ratty original belt sheath comes with the knife and bears witness to the work-time the knife has spent. This is a useful knife that was raised in the Buck Knife #110 era, designed and built for the same big assignments at a lower price than Buck. (No offense meant to Buck Knives; they set the standard for this style knife.) Mailing only to USA-48. Postage is usually between $5.00 and $6.26. Buyer pays $4.00, I will pay the rest. Please see my other knives and save postage. I am liquidating my entire collection; please keep me in your favorite sellers, watching for Old Bryan's Old Knives or the seller name below.
