Description: Original engraving of Jeanne Guyon ( Madame Guyon) Engraving is over 120 years old. Guyon was a French Christian accused of advocating Quietism, which was considered heretical by the Roman Catholic Church.[1] Madame Guyon was imprisoned from 1695 to 1703 after publishing the book A Short and Very Easy Method of Prayer. Size:12 by 9 1/2 inches actual picture without writing 4 by 3 1/4 inches Condition: no foxing, toning around edges and 1/2 inch tear at top but wont see when matted see photos but with an acid free mat and black frame it would look really nice If you google this engraving you will see many collections have this engraving. The library of Congress sells photos of this engraving. Made for Electic Magazine. Great piece of history. We got these while we were living in Philadelphia. Bought at an antique store and always thought we would open a store to sell prints but now retired so just selling. Have over 200 engravings. Have sat in a box for over 30 years. Lots of copies of this engraving but this is an original. Note the size of this engraving compared to others. This is much bigger.
