Description: Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres - study for the figure of Stratonice , 19th century Lovely little decorative art work in a simple framework sold by an old Dutch art dealer in Amsterdam ( long gone ), most probably a reproduction or a drawing from an Art book , the image is mount on a cardboard and behind a glass plate and inside an iron frame... On the backside we can read on a white piece of cardboard: '56. Jean Auguste Ingres ( 1780-1867 )' , underneath in the corner the name of a Dutch art dealer in the P.C. Hooftstraat in Amsterdam. That art gallery doesn't exist anymore The image was examined outside the frame but i can't give any certainty about the originality because the paper with the image was completely fixed on the cardboard, Most probably just a decorative reprint issued first half 20th century Standing female nude, leaning her head on one hand. The head leaning on the hand, and the hand alone, are drawn again separately. Studies for the figure of Stratonice in the painting 'Antiochus and Stratonice'.... In good condition.
