Description: Pair of vintage bookends, from circa 1930's, attributed to J.B. Hirsh, and designed by John Ruhl, well known American sculptor - the collectors recognize him for his bookends designed and manufactured between cc 1900 - 1940.The bookends represent the lighthouse keeper with the lantern; the face is made of ivory colored resin, probably celluloid, and the cast metal body that has a painted bronze patina look; the keeper stands on a black painted metal base.The book ends are in an excellent vintage condition, no damages; black metal painting on the base has very slight wearing on the edge.The figures are bout 8.5" tall, and the base adds about additional 3/4"; the base dimensions are about 3/4" x 5" x 3 1/4".Heavy, each bookend is almost 2 lbs.
