Description: This is a nifty, blue, 5-Cents British Ceylonese postal stationery card(minor stains and wear and tear) sent by a Japanese national who was sailing on a steamship that had just arrived at Colombo, British Ceylon, on June 26, 1898! The message was written in quite good English, and was sent to a Ms. Alice Miller in Tokyo, Japan! It was sent through Hong Kong(a great strike of the transit CDS!) on July 14, 1898, and arrived in Tokyo(a pretty great, red, receiving CDS on July 20th!) The addressee was a Church of Christ, Christian missionary, and the sender, most likely a Japanese Christian and/or English student of Ms. Miller's. He/She wrote a very interesting message about how the Ceylonese he/she saw were, "negroes," and didn't understand much English! The writer mentioned how he/she was also soon going to see a statue of a Buddha in the area. Noted imperfections aside, this remains a really neat piece of British Ceylonese, and Japanese postal history
