Description: Lovely Japanese Meiji period, late 19th century bronze and mixed metal charger measuring 12" diameter. This is bot inlaid and on-laid with bronze leaves and birds in a scenic design. The gilded sections are real gold applied to the design and the dimensional pieces are applied bronze birds and leaves that are gilded with solid 24 karat gold. There are areas that have been rubbed and spotted and there is a drill hole on the back foot rim where an area was scratched in the bronze when the hole was drilled. It is in very good condition with the patina original but there is some wear that is consistent with its age. Still a beautiful and unique piece of bronze and mixed metal work. The birds appear life-like and the artistry is truly well-done. PG39
