Description: Antique Japanese Jakatsu (Wormy or Water Drop Glaze) teapot with original handle. This teapot is a fine example of late 19th or early 20th century pottery. The brown glaze which covers the pot with raised globules is called Jakatsu. This particular teapot has a dark brown-black colour outside, but a grey-beige colour inside. This pot has been well used, and bears internal tea-stains. It is in excellent physical condition with no chips nor cracks. The wire-and-rattan handle is original, on one end of the handle, the raw edge of the wire is exposed. (Please see photos.) The pot is 6 ½ inches tall from spout to edge and 5 inches tall to the top of the lid. We are a charitable organization seller and as such, we recycle our packing materials as much as possible.
