JAPANESE ART UKIYO-E, BIJIN-GA, WOODBLOCK PRINT, AUTHOR UNKNOWN This picture is printed on Japanese paper as a woodblock print. This picture is a kind of ukiyo-e called Bijin-ga.Bijin-ga is a painting for the purpose of appreciating the beautiful appearance of men and women, and it is found all over the world, but what is called Bijin-ga mainly refers to oriental paintings. It is written that it was drawn by Kuniyoshi Ichiyusai as the author.Kuniyoshi Ichiyusai is Utagawa Kuniyoshi, who is famous for his samurai paintings and bijin-ga.Kuniyoshi called himself Ichiyusai from 1818 (1st year of Bunsei) to 1860 (1st year of Man'en), so the original painting may have been drawn around this time. However, it seems that this is not an inscription left by the author himself, but was put in by the printmaker when making the print. We do not appraise the details of whether it is Kuniyoshi's painting. The original painting may be from the Edo period, but from the condition of the paper, it seems that this painting was reprinted at the end of the Taisho era or the beginning of the Showa era, not the Edo period. StatusThere is aged deterioration.I think the picture is in good condition for an old one. Please refer to the photo for details. sizeVertical: Approximately 24.0cmHorizontal: Approximately 18.0cmThe unit of measure is centimeters, not inches.
