The blade is a shinto period blade, Middle Edo period about 1700. It is in very good condition. No fatal flaws, there is some minor kizu. The blade is made out of TAMAHAGANE, the iron ore that's been used in old Japan to make swords. It is typical shinogi-zukuri shape, with chu-kissaki tip. There's no signature.It has a narrow suguha Hamon. The blade has an older polish. .The sword has a beautiful hantachi style koshirae. The saya has very nice handachi kojiri from copper, made probably early to middle Edo period. The saya also has a nice horn kurikata and copper koiguchi.The saya has beautiful red textured urushi lacquer. The fuchi is made of iron with a beautiful gold and copper inlay and has the design of the pine tree. The kashira is also an iron piece and has design of flower inlay from gold and copper. The tsuba is probably late Edo period around 1800 and nice mokko sukashi style.The tsuka has a black leather wrap on same (ray skin). It has very nice menuki, the design is a dragon.It has nice silver scratch design habaki.
