Description: You are bidding on a wonderful mid-century linoleum cut print by Jacques Hnizdovsky. This print is titled Turkey and was released in 1961 by the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. It is signed by the artist and is a limited edition print (7 of 50). It is nicely framed and measures 20 1/4" x 20 1/4" (perfectly square). As the edition number indicates, this print is quite uncommon with one of the 50 being held in the collection of the MFA in Boston. Perfect addition to any collection. The frame uses TruGuard UV protection and the print/frame are in excellent condition. Jacques Hnizdovsky (1915-1985) was born in the Ukraine in 1915 and studied art in Warsaw and Zagreb. He had an early interest in the woodcut, particularly those of Albrecht Durer and the Japanese. Shortly after he arrived in the United State in 1949, A. Hyatt Mayor of the Metropolitan Museum of Art chose one of his woodcuts for a Purchase Award at a 1950 Minneapolis Institute of Art print exhibition. It was a turning point in his career and his life. From that moment he was determined to make his livelihood as an artist and went onto great success, becoming one of the best known printmakers. Shipping costs are based on weight and distance from my home in Fairhaven, MA. In simplest terms, I prefer to ship priority mail unless it is a book (then I ship using media mail), small item, or if the item is bigger than a breadbox or heavier than 5 lbs (unless I can fit it in a flat rate box). I'm also open to local pick-up at my home in Fairhaven. I've been selling on Ebay since 1998 but this is not a full time job.
