Description: Jacobson And Golden Cast Iron and Tin Formed Turtle Spittoon, c. 1890 What a stunning piece of early metal work. This cast iron turtle form spittoon frame along with thin tin (?, or copper?) shell reflects an excellent piece of old tobacciana. Circa 1890, this piece opens mechanically with a push of the head. Unfortunately, it is missing the original spittoon bowl. Marked with company name, " Golden and Jacobson, Pat'd Nov 10, 91' Chicago" .Dimensions: 14" long head to tail, 3.5" high, about 11" diameter width, about 4.5lbs in weightCondition: the most pressing issue is the missing spittoon bowl itself, of course, connected to the wire rim is supposed to be a fitted spittoon bowl to complete the piece. This was never included when I came across the piece. Other than this, the early metalwork reflects nice age and patina. The shell does have some loss of that original brown patina, and regular even wear and scratches. Finally, upon opening, the shell seems to shift to the left. All in all, this 130 year old piece of metal work, would really shine in anyones collection. Shipping to Continental 48 States, all other, Global Shipping option.
