Description: Jacob Petit Paris Boys Fighting Figurine & Gold Rococo Inkwell Stand Circa 1830-1866 PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE PURCHASING OR MAKING AN OFFER. Rare Old Paris / Vieux Paris porcelain Rococo style inkwell with heavy gold gilt floral scrollwork designs around the front. With relief molded leaves and acorn finial to the lids. Has a hand painted figurine group of two gentleman or boys fighting. The stand is marked on the bottom with a blue underglaze JP. This mark was used by Jacob Petit between 1830 and 1866. Has wear to the gilding. The boy in the red coat is missing his left hand and there are a few small flakes to the base of the figurine. The inkwell stand has a gilded over chip to the edge that seems to be in manufacture, and a post manufacture chip to the edge. The stand also has a crack running from the front edge over the foot rim and into the opening where the inkwell sits. One of the lids has an in manufacture firing separation across the base and the other lid has a chip to the edge. The inkwell stand by itself measures approximately 9 1/2 at the widest point x 7 1/2 inches front to back x 3 1/4 inches tall to the top of the lid finials. The figurine group by itself measures approximately 5 1/2 inches wide x 5 5/8 inches tall. The inkwell stand with the figurine sitting on top measures approximately 6 3/4 inches tall. This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not affect the display of the piece. Click here to see all the Paris porcelain we have for available.
