Description: Published by Frederick A Stokes Company. No date but published in 1926 per WorldCat. This is a quality book with rough cut page edges measuring 8" x 10" with 24 full page black and white reproductions and text on watermarked paper. The outer boards have fading where a book sat on this one for decades, I assume. There are light bumps on the board edges. I see no other condition issues with the book. There is a handwritten poem laid in on the subject of the islands. I can't really read it but there are several words like "Cyclades" that confirm the topic. The poem is dated 1931. I have many books that passed between these two men and the recipient "J.M. O'H" was John Myers O'Hara, a minor poet in the first 35 years of the 20th century who also translated several books into English (who also had his poem Atavism used as the epigraph to Jack London's Call of the Wild) . The actual poet here unfortunately never signed his work other than using the initials "J.L.H". You can have fun with that. I utilize a third party shipper for international sales. Please note the actual shipping cost before purchasing. That is not my shipping fee and I neither receive it nor know what the amount is. Please do not commit to "buy it now" until you have seen the shipping amount that you will be charged. Thank you. For International Buyers: Media Mail shipments only. Please note that, although you are likely paying very high shipping costs to have this item sent to you, I am not charging those costs. In the case of books, I utilize "media mail" to get the box to the third party shipper. "Media mail" is a very SLOW speed mailing process reserved for books and records that are potentially very heavy. If you can not wait for my shipment to reach the third party shipper at a very slow pace, please contact me before purchasing and I can add a faster (and more expensive) alternative to the listing to get the item to the third party shipper. 1 MEDIA MAIL: The USPS allows books, records and other media to be mailed at a cheaper price than typical mail. It tends to be a much slower mailing process than standard mail. In addition, any employee of the USPS can open the package at ANY time for ANY reason to verify that what is inside is what should be inside. In most cases, the item is properly repackaged but, in rare cases, it is not and an item can arrive damaged. As my feedback suggests, I package very carefully. If you receive a damaged item that has the appearance of having been poorly packaged, please contact me prior to leaving feedback so that it can be addressed.
