Description: This auction is for a mint condition 2002 International Peace Arch patch. It may have been issued by the International Peace Arch Association, or a private individual, and not an official Scouting organization. The Peace Arch Ceremony, aka "Hands Across the Border" is a long-running Scouting event. During its long history this event has often been organized (entirely or jointly) by Mount Baker Area Council / Mt. Baker Council, but it draws Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts from throughout Washington, Oregon, Idaho, British Columbia, and beyond. The first Peace Arch Celebration was held on November 11th, 1937, as a joint U.S.-Canadian Armistice Day Celebration. It has grown into an annual event in Blaine, Washington with Boy Scouts of America and Boy Scouts of Canada meeting for a flag ceremony, patch trading / badge swapping, fellowship, etc. (There was a brief pause during the pandemic, but the event has restarted.) Other parts of the country have long-running local or international events (e.g. Lincoln Pilgrimage, West Point Camporee, World Brotherhood Camporee, etc.) - this is that event for the Pacific Northwest. I combine shipping, so please see my other auctions for more Scout memorabilia. Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
