Description: The McDonnell Douglas DC-10 is an American tri-jet wide bodied aircraft. It was originally intended to replace the Douglas DC-8 for long range flights. The DC-10 had it's maiden flight on 29 August 1970. It was first introduced to American Airlines on 05 August 1971. The original DC-10-10 had a 3,500 mile range for transcontinental flights. The DC-10-15 had more powerful engines for hot and high altitude airports. The DC-10-30 and DC-10-40 series (with a third main landing gear leg added to support higher weights), each had intercontinental ranges of up to 5,200 miles. Northwest Airlines was a major American airline founded in 1926 as Northwest Airways. In 1934 the airline commenced as Northwest Airlines, in 1947 as Northwest Orient Airlines, and in 1986 once again as Northwest Airlines. The airline was headquartered in Eagan, Minnesota, USA that was near the Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota International Airport. The airline was merged with Delta Airlines and with all aircraft officially branded as Delta Airlines in January of 2010 This Northwest Airlines DC-10-30 with registration N240NW, had its maiden flight in March of 1988. It was originally delivered to Thai Airways International on 26 May 1988. It was then sold and delivered to Northwest on 08 April 1998. It flew for Northwest until December of 2006 when it was sold to Omni Air International where it flew for the rest of its service life, and when retired, was finally placed in storage. This InFlight 1:200 scale heavy diecast reproduction of this famous aircraft is an extremely rare model. It comes with detailed landing gear with rolling rubber tires, highly detailed engines, and razor sharp graphics with the last Northwest livery. The approximate dimensions are: 11.00" long with a 10.00" wingspan. All sales are final. Shipping to the USA only. NOTE: This was a very limited production model of only 240 units manufactured, and is no longer available. NOTE: This InFlight version of Northwest Airline's Douglas DC-10-30 is a discontinued, EXTREMELY RARE and almost impossible model to find model. I found only one other InFlight version of this aircraft on an internet search, but at a higher cost. It is a highly sought after collectors model for any Northwest enthusiast, any DC-10 collectior or any aviation enthusiast. This is the only one I have that is available. NOTE: The last photograph in the series is on the actual Northwest DC-10 (N240NW) touching down. It has the Northwest livery just before it changed to the last livery before the Northwest/Delta merger. NOTE: This InFlight version was not manufactured to include a display stand, however one can be purchased separately.
