Description: I am continuing the long process of selling off folk art, textiles, and books from three different collector estates. Due to the volume of items, my descriptions are shorter that usual, but my commitment to accurately representing everything that I sell remains. Please review all of the photos before bidding. If you have any questions about any of the items for sale, please don't hesitate to contact me and I'll be more than happy to answer in more detail directly. This auction is for a handmade Indian "rumal" cloth. According to the experts I consulted about this piece, it is likely made using real silver braid (sacha gota) that was taken off of an antique rumal and reused on new cloth after the old silk ground disintegrated. The red cloth is viscose satin, which was common for making such rumals in northern India in the 1960s/70s. All of the shapes have different names and are part of a long tradition of this type of applique work. It measures slightly over 19" square and is in excellent condition.
