Description: Very important antique middle eastern Nishapur or Samarkand bowl w 2 parrots as callig. 9-10 century Smanid. Double parrots as stylized Kufic calligraphy. These are very rare and I have not seen more than a handful of them in more than half a century. Recently one sold at Christie's London for about $17,500. A picture of the catalog page is provided.
